From January 8 to 13, 2025, the 2025 Global College Student Startup Camp (GCSC) was held at Gachon University in Korea.

The event brought together 80 university students from Korea and Japan to develop creative solutions for social challenges across East Asia, including population decline and climate change.

The camp was jointly organized by Gachon University and Japan’s Hitotsubashi University, with support from Cocone One and Shinhan Financial Group. Throughout the program, participants explored innovative approaches to addressing shared challenges faced by East Asian societies.

Breaking Language Barriers and Connecting Ideas

During the camp, XL8’s EventCAT played a key role in facilitating communication between Korean and Japanese students, mentors, and speakers through AI-powered real-time translation subtitles.

EventCAT provided two-way real-time translation between Korean and Japanese during various programs, including mentoring sessions, participant presentations, and keynote lectures, enabling smoother communication and deeper discussions.

In particular, during lectures by Professor Naohiro Shichijo from Hitotsubashi University and Professor Lisa Son from Columbia University’s Barnard College, EventCAT translated English presentations into Korean and Japanese subtitles in real time.

This allowed participants to understand key insights and actively engage in discussions without being limited by language barriers.
