EventCAT AI Live Interpretation at ICACS 2026
How EventCAT Enabled Multilingual Communication at ICACS 2026
The International Congress of Acute Care Surgery (ICACS 2026), hosted by the Korean Society of Acute Care Surgery (KSACS), was held from April 9 to 10 at Mayfield Hotel in Seoul. Following last year’s congress at BEXCO in Busan, EventCAT once again supported the event, helping deliver smooth multilingual communication across international sessions.
To improve translation accuracy for complex medical terminology and session context, EventCAT prepared in advance using presentation materials. This allowed international attendees to follow the program more clearly and stay engaged throughout the conference.

ICACS 2026 brought together approximately 500 experts, providing a platform to explore the present and future of acute care surgery—including trauma, emergency surgery, and surgical critical care. Participants shared the latest clinical insights and research findings while discussing key challenges in the field.
At a global medical conference where experts share real-world cases, clear communication across languages is essential. With multiple languages used by both speakers and attendees, how did EventCAT support this environment?
Seamless Multilingual Communication for Joint Sessions with International Speakers
From the opening ceremony to the main sessions, EventCAT’s AI-powered live subtitles were available throughout the event. Attendees could follow presentations in real time on large screens installed on both sides of the stage, helping them stay focused and engaged.

For those who preferred a different language or wanted to take notes, QR codes provided instant access to subtitles on personal mobile devices. Without the need for dedicated receiver equipment, participants could easily view content in their preferred language at any time.
Joint sessions featuring international speakers were conducted in English, while Q&A sessions included Korean, English, and Japanese. Even in this multilingual setting, attendees could follow discussions by selecting their preferred subtitle language.
With support for over 50 languages, EventCAT helped participants stay aligned with the flow of each session—improving focus, engagement, and enabling more in-depth discussions.
How EventCAT Improves Accuracy for Medical Conferences
Medical conferences differ from general events in that they frequently involve technical terminology, proper nouns, abbreviations, and numerical data. In such environments, real-time translation alone may not always capture the full context.
To address this, EventCAT prepared in advance using presentation materials, improving translation accuracy and delivering more precise subtitles.

Pre-Training for Accurate Medical Terminology and Context
EventCAT reflected presentation materials in advance so that key medical terminology, proper nouns, and abbreviations could be handled more accurately during live sessions.
In academic settings, speakers often use abbreviations, technical terms, and mix English expressions within Korean presentations. EventCAT was able to reflect these nuances in real time, reducing the risk of misinterpretation and ensuring that key information was clearly delivered—even in highly specialized sessions.
EventCAT AI Subtitles: Optimized for Global Academic Conferences
EventCAT supports multilingual subtitle delivery across academic conferences, global events, and forums. In environments where both technical expertise and multilingual communication are required, it helps participants understand content in their preferred language and stay focused on the discussion.
EventCAT has supported real-time translation at major events such as the Busan International AI Film Festival, SK AI Summit, and the Asia Pacific Conference on Disaster Medicine (APCDM 2024). For more case studies, visit the EventCAT blog.
