EventCAT AI Interpretation at ICACS 2026: A Medical Conference Success Story
Accurate interpretation is essential at international medical conferences, where specialized medical terminology and multilingual presentations are common. At ICACS 2026, hosted by the Korean Society of Acute Care Surgery, EventCAT provided AI simultaneous interpretation and real-time multilingual captions, enabling international speakers and participants to communicate without language barriers. By pre-training the AI with presentation materials, the translation accuracy of medical terminology and abbreviations was further improved.
Why AI Interpretation Matters for International Medical Conferences
The International Congress of Acute Care Surgery (ICACS 2026) was held on April 9–10 at Mayfield Hotel Seoul.
Following last year's ICACS at BEXCO in Busan, EventCAT once again participated as the official multilingual communication partner, supporting the operation of international sessions.
ICACS 2026 is an international academic conference organized by the Korean Society of Acute Care Surgery (KSACS), bringing together approximately 500 medical professionals from Korea and abroad. As the conference focused on the latest clinical knowledge and research in trauma surgery, emergency surgery, and surgical critical care, accurate communication and effective Q&A sessions were essential.

Supporting International Speakers and Multilingual Sessions with AI Interpretation
From the opening ceremony to the keynote sessions, EventCAT's AI interpretation captions were provided throughout the conference.
Participants could follow real-time translated captions on large screens installed on both sides of the venue. By scanning a QR code, they could also view captions in their preferred language on their smartphones.
During joint sessions, English presentations were naturally followed by questions and discussions in Korean and Japanese. Without interpretation booths or dedicated receivers, EventCAT enabled speakers to present in their own language while allowing attendees to read real-time captions in the language of their choice.
Improving Terminology Translation Accuracy Through Pre-training
Medical conferences frequently include specialized terminology, abbreviations, proper nouns, and numerical information that are more difficult to translate accurately than in general events.
To provide more accurate AI-generated captions, EventCAT applied its glossary feature and pre-trained the AI using presentation materials before the event.
Improving Translation Accuracy with Medical Context
By pre-training the AI with presentation materials registered in the glossary, EventCAT was able to recognize and translate specialized medical terminology, abbreviations, and proper nouns more accurately based on the context of each presentation.
Even when English medical terms were used during Korean presentations, the system helped ensure that key concepts were accurately translated, allowing international participants to better understand the content.

EventCAT AI Interpretation Optimized for Medical Conferences
Based on its experience supporting international events and academic conferences including the Global Engagement & Empowerment Forum (GEEF 2026) and the Asia Pacific Conference on Disaster Medicine (APCDM 2024) EventCAT provides reliable multilingual communication for presentations with specialized terminology and multilingual sessions.
